Achievements and Results

Examination results for Spring term 2010: We are delighted that all the candidates entered for the R.A.D. Intermediate Foundation examination at the end of last term passed with distinction. This is a fantastic result both for the school and for the individual students - congratulations.

Additionally, many congratulations to everyone on their recent grade examination results:

Ballet: 25 Distinctions, 24 Merits, 0 Passes

Tap, Modern and Jazz: 30 As, 46 Bs, 14 Cs.

We are very proud of our 100% success rate in exams, which are held twice a year in the Autumn and Spring terms, but the School is about far more than taking exams.

We appreciate the benefits of external training and encourages those with certain flair and ability to apply for the Imperial and Royal Societies outreach programs (JA/MA/PVP etc). These children are also given the opportunity to compete in local and regional Eisteddfod festivals. This helps these children develop their technical abilities, but arguably, more importantly, helps them develop their performance skills. It also gives them the opportunity to dance alongside other talented children from local schools, giving them a wider awareness of what is out there, especially as students are reaching Regional and National finals.

Further to this we have had pupils performing alongside Birmingham Royal Ballet in Still Life At The Penguin Café, in the recent tour of Joseph and The Technicolor Dreamcoat and in English Youth Ballet’ production of Coppelia. Other credits include 3rd place in the Fonteyn Nureyev competition, Janet Cram and All England finalists.

Stapleton School of Dancing continues to produce high standards and currently has two students studying at Elmhurst and has another two performing with Birmingham Royal Ballet at Christmas 2009.
